Process and impact

Perfogroup SA, driven by its two founders and co-directors, wanted to implement a sustainable development approach while involving its employees.

A series of questions arose: should we first adopt less oil-dependent mobility practices, for delivery and commissioning activities, or for employees? Or work on the sustainability of the materials used in products? Or increase the recyclability of products at the end of their life cycle? Finally, what circular economy training would be most appropriate internally?

In practice, La Fabrique Circulaire firstly enabled the company to measure the impact of its various activities on climate change, in order to determine where to focus its efforts and priorities.

Secondly, some 15 employees from Perfogroup SA took part in a collaborative workshop to raise awareness and involve them in the company's sustainability approach. Based on the results of the carbon footprint, they identified and prioritized measures for the categories and activities with the greatest CO2 impact.

Finally, Perfogroup SA's attention was drawn to the identification of a major potential impact when replacing defective parts at customer sites. Technicians will be sensitized to encourage them to replace only the problematic component, or to recover and repair more of the parts brought back from customers, in order to put them back into service.

The next key step considered by Perfogroup SA is to recruit a sustainability and supplier quality project manager. This manager will implement the measures identified during the workshop to reduce the carbon footprint of products in this business sector. These measures include reviewing product specifications and selecting suppliers capable of adopting an eco-design approach aimed at reducing product weight while increasing the proportion of recycled material, without compromising performance.

Thanks to this systemic approach, La Fabrique Circulaire offers to the company the opportunity to reduce the impact of its activities on climate change at every stage of the life cycle, by promoting the principles of the circular economy. It also raises employee awareness of new sustainable opportunities and helps to embed sustainability in the culture of Perfogroup SA.
