In its workshops, Vaudaux uses high-quality products such as leather and, as a result, produces associated waste. The SME is keen to adopt the appropriate measures to make the best use of the resources and materials needed for its activity.
To begin with, the collaboration between Vaudaux and La Fabrique Circulaire involved carrying out a 'macro' Life Cycle Assessment of the company, to identify the most effective actions to be taken to improve the company's environmental footprint. Energy and water, waste, inputs, products and mobility within the company were all analysed. The analysis validates that the choice of inputs has a significant impact on the company's carbon footprint.
Vaudaux now has the figures and information it needs to select the most sustainable raw materials from its suppliers, and to promote their traceability and environmental quality to its customers.
The design teams and the sheathing workshops have also confirmed their commitment to a number of circular economy initiatives, such as the eco-design of cases and the recycling of leather scraps.
